The International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) and the Big Data for Smart Society Institute (GATE) signed an agreement confirming that GATE will facilitate the Bulgarian IDSA Hub. The team around Director Prof. Sylvia Ilieva is focusing on knowledge transfer on data sovereignty and IDS components into the Bulgarian industry and research community.
Bulgarian Hub facilitator: GATE Institute
The IDSA Hub in Bulgaria is facilitated by the Big Data for Smart Society Institute (GATE) in Sofia. GATE will promote the concepts of IDSA among public and private organizations in Bulgaria and the Balkan region. The aim is to accelerate activities in the field of data sharing by starting new initiatives in Bulgaria and by connecting existing initiatives among European countries within EU projects.
GATE is the first Centre of Excellence in Bulgaria to work on scientific excellence and innovation in big data and artificial intelligence. It was established in 2019 as an autonomous structure of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. GATE is involved in several important European initiatives and projects on big data and artificial intelligence.
Eight official IDSA Hubs
IDSA collaborates closely with the Hubs to disseminate the IDS standard on data sovereignty and data ecosystems in Europe and beyond, and to intensify cooperation with international R&D organizations and companies.
At present there are eight IDSA Hubs: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Greek, Italy, Netherlands and Spain.
