Data Spaces in Domains | How Telcos can Share Data in a Self-Determined Way

The IDS standard for data sovereignty and concrete use cases will be discussed as well as why this is important for telcos.

Data needs to be shared in order to benefit from its true potential. Whereas beforehand data was stuck in a “pond” or a “lake”, now data flows as a “river” of information. By combining different data sources new opportunities can be created, also for telcos. Applications in the health sector, mobility, energy and manufacturing are abundantly available. Data sharing can also further increase process efficiency in supply chains. The data needs to be shared in a controlled and trusted way however, otherwise people and companies will not be willing to share the data.

The IDSA will outline the IDS standard for sovereign data sharing within and between sectors in an easy and self-determined manner as well as comment on the first implementations. Concrete use cases will be touched upon, as well as why this is important for the telecom sector. We will also outline why in Europe ‘’data sovereignty’’ as design principle is chosen compared to ‘’winner takes all solutions’’.
