IDSA has developed the key fundamentals for successfully running a data space, IDSA members have created amazing scenarios of what a data space can look like. In the Q&A Workshop, we'd like to discuss with you how to put the fundamentals together, how to turn the scenarios into real business models. And what steps to take to turn a scenario into a secure and sovereign data space.

Taking the ongoing Franco-German collaboration on “Trustworthy & Industrial AI” as a reference, the web seminar will present existing projects, benefits, and outcomes of the cross-border collaboration, as well as possibilities to scale-up the collaboration at European level with the support of existing initiatives such as Gaia-X and BDVA – both associations active in Europe and beyond. Governmental Representatives are discussing national priorities of AI and Industry AI Experts are giving insights of scientific and technological challenges. This web seminar is co-organised by Gaia-X, BDVA, the French Grand Défi and Plattform Lernende Systeme – and of course by IDSA!

The IDS standard for data sovereignty and concrete use cases will be discussed as well as why this is important for telcos. Data needs to be shared in order to benefit from its true potential. Whereas beforehand data was stuck in a “pond” or a “lake”, now data flows as a “river” of information. By combining different data sources new opportunities can be created, also for telcos. Applications in the health sector, mobility, energy and manufacturing are abundantly available. Data sharing can also further increase process efficiency in supply chains. The data needs to be shared in a controlled and trusted way however, otherwise people and companies will not be willing to share the data.

The Data Week, held online from May 25 to 27, is the spring gathering of the European Big Data and Data-Driven AI research and innovation community. It follows the tradition of the Big Data Value Summit, promoting opportunities, knowledge sharing and fostering Big Data and Data-Driven AI ecosystem development. The Data Week aims at bringing together the research and innovation community working on Data, Big Data and Data-Driven AI. So it's pretty clear that IDSA is on board.

Why is the European Data Governance Act important in terms of how data will be shared in the future? How can data sovereignty be anchored in the DGA? And why is it time for a moonshot in relation to data? Topics to be discussed at a live session on 25 May 2021. Hosted by Rikka Kampi of MyData Global, the session is an ideal chance to learn more about the role the DGA can play in the balance of power over data, the evolution of the digital economy, data sovereignty, data spaces and digital soft infrastructures. It is also your opportunity to engage and participate.

The EU Data Strategy is one of the pillars of the Euopean Commission’s new digital strategy, published in 2020. It has created the vision of European data spaces which adhere to rules directly derived from fundamental European values. It envisages the "flow of data within the EU and across sectors" and is based on the FAIR principles when it comes to the access, management, and use of data. Data strategies can also be developed at regional or industry level. Following the same goal, they strive for data sharing and data value creation. They create the basis for Data Spaces, which map cross-company and data-driven collaboration along production and supply chains. There is enormous potential in them, for example, value creation potential. But also obstacles.

In the EnDaSpace project, the concept of International Data Spaces was used to demonstrate the communication flow between a wind turbine and an electrolyzer for hydrogen production. As a digital service, a schedule was calculated from the wind turbine operating data and electricity market information to ensure economical production of green hydrogen. Don't miss the chance to engage in dialogue with project stakeholders to learn more about the project.

Data sharing is already a challenge but data sharing for AI brings about some additional complexities, like enabling the training of models while maintaining data sovereignty. Because of the complexity, this is more than data sharing so we call it “data logistics”. Data logistics for AI breaks down functionalities in manageable applications easing the challenge of responsible data sharing for AI. The workshop aims to chart the challenges of data logistics for AI, to present some innovative developments to address those challenges, and to identify how the solution is firmly are embedded in European Data Spaces.

Join the federation as you were a member and enjoy sharing assets with your peers using an IDS connector. Based on instructions sent prior to the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to implement an IDS connector just as any member of the EUH4D federation. Let’s make is bigger as ever! Concept: Using an instance of the identity provider service used in EUH4D, connecting the most possible participants in a unique ecosystem using IDS connectors, and executing simple data sharing scenario.
