Data Ecosystems Day

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft presented the concept of a cross-company data space in 2015. It enables companies to share their most valuable assets and use them in a value-added way: data.

The International Data Spaces Association (IDSA), initiated by the German Ministry of Education and Research, Fraunhofer and industry, has taken this concept and developed it into an international de facto standard – the IDS standard for data sovereignty. With this standard, IDSA has paved the way to a trustworthy and sovereign data economy.

Now, the IDS standard is ready for commercial use.

At the Data Ecosystems Day on 26 November 2020 the developers of the Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Cognitive Internet Technologies , the Fraunhofer ICT Group and the International Data Spaces Association present and explain:

  • the components that allow participation in trustworthy and sovereign data ecosystems,
  • how the certification of participants in data ecosystems, which is now possible, works,
  • IDS-based data ecosystems that are successfully in operation,
  • the role of IDS in the European cloud infrastructure GAIA-X.
