OpenChain and Friends 2026 | Build a more trusted supply chain
OpenChain and Friends 2026 is a ommunity event taking place from March 24–26, 2026, in Stuttgart, Germany. The programme brings together representatives from industry, research institutions, the public sector, and open source communities. The primary focus of the event is the responsible, secure, and scalable use of open source in the context of software applications along supply chains and digital ecosystems. Discussions address governance, compliance, cybersecurity, engineering practices, digital sovereignty, and collaborative open source development models.
The event is organised by the OpenChain Project – a community initiative that maintains international standards for open-source compliance and security assurance – in collaboration with the FOSS-LÄND Community.
The programme features multiple topic streams, each focusing on aspects of open source and supply chain topics. Areas of focus include topics like ‘Artificial Intelligence – AI systems engineering and data platforms’, ‘Digital sovereignty and open source in business’ as well as ‘Automotive ecosystems and software innovation’.
We, at the International Data Spaces Association, are contributing to the track ‘Artificial Intelligence – AI Systems Engineering & Data Platforms – methods, tools, open platforms, open AI agents for resilient supply chains’ with our presentation titled “Data spaces – the key to unlocking AI’s potential”. This session will explore how data space architectures and standards can enable trustworthy, interoperable foundations for AI systems across industries — connecting data governance, scalable platforms, and resilient supply chain practices.
