How can intelligent IoT and Open-Data solutions be implemented in the areas of smart cities, Industry 4.0 and agriculture? For two days from 8th to 9th May 2018, that was the key question of the FIWARE Global Summit in Porto. Answers to these questions were also provided by the International Data Spaces Association with its headquarter in Dortmund that was represented as an exhibitor and with lectures on site.
“The FIWARE Global Summit is an international meeting place for decision-makers, pioneers and innovators”, explained Lars Nagel, Managing Director of IDSA. “We could discuss with entrepreneurs and political decision-makers about the role of Industrial Data Space as a secure and promising solution for cross-border data-exchange.“ The new reference architecture model, officially introduced at the Hannover Messe and also presented at the Summit, showed how this could look in detail. Lars Nagel, Ulrich Ahle, CEO FIWARE Foundation and board member of IDSA, and other members of the International Data Spaces Association also gave the more than 1,000 participants from 24 countries an understanding of IDS during lectures.
Altogether, start-ups and companies, cities and authorities as well as developers used the opportunity to get in contact with high-ranking decision-makers at municipal, state and EU level, to gain insights into open data solutions and their implementation in companies and to get to know successful practical examples.
“This open and personal exchange is very important for us in order to present the concept of International Data Space and its various application possibilities and to promote the internationalisation of IDSA at the same time”, emphasised Lars Nagel. The International Data Spaces Association will also be back at the FIWARE Tech Summit next autumn.
