Tech Talk | Legal interoperability – legal aspects in data spaces

Interoperability plays a fundamental role in the high-priority endeavor of establishing European data spaces. Although the general term ‘interoperability’ is not a legal concept but rather a technical one, ‘legal interoperability’ is one important layer to build reliable and trustworthy data spaces. But what does legal interoperability in data spaces mean and what legal aspects should be considered?

Beside the general legal topics around data sharing like Privacy and IP the EU establishes more and more regulations on data sharing and data access. Therefore, the need to define an aligned legal framework considering different legal aspects becomes essential for data spaces. Söntje Hilberg is a lawyer specialized in IT and Privacy Law, a legal advisor of the IDSA and head of the IDSA Legal Taskforce. Beside the topic she will also introduce the IDSA Legal task force and its activities regarding the topic.
