European Memory Data Space | Data Space Approaches and Lessons Learnt
The European Memory Data Space organizes an in-depth discussion on how the European programs for Common Data Spaces and European Digital Identity can tackle the fundamental challenges posed by societal domains such as cultural heritage, media, and remembrance. The launch of European Memory Data Space (EMDS), dedicated to Holocaust-related data, highlights the fundamental challenges of inclusivity, long-term preservation (coupled with persistent long-term identifiers), and combating disinformation and AI-generated fake history.
Building on the visionary session held on June 5 with leaders from Holocaust museums, initiatives, and memorials, this event will discuss implementation strategies within the current landscape of European data spaces. The successes of completed and ongoing data space projects will be analyzed, and a roadmap for EMDS both as a standalone initiative and as a component of the broader, interconnected ecosystem of data spaces and infrastructures will be proposed.
The session will invite brief presentations from experts, foster open dialogue, and feature collaborative roundtables. Among the experts on stage is IDSA’s Chief Solution Officer and the Director of the Data Spaces Support Centre, Gianfranco Cecconi, who knows the Data Space Map like few others.
