Data Spaces Week 2025 | CEATEC Symposium & Data Spaces Discovery Day Tokyo
For the second time, partners of IDSA are organizing a full week dedicated to data spaces in Japan! The Data Society Alliance (DSA), in collaboration with the University of Tokyo, the Asia Open Data Partnership (AODP), IDSA, IEEE, and the International Open Forum on Data Society (IOFDS), are partnering for the biggest data space event in Asia: the Data Spaces Week 2025 in Tokyo, Japan.
This week-long event, aimed at promoting the advancement of international data space initiatives, will take place from Tuesday, October 14, to Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Makuhari Messe convention center located in Makuhari New City, close to Tokyo
Throughout the week, key data events will complement each other to form a gala: the IEEE SA P3800 Working Group Meet-up, the Asia Open Data Partnership Summit 2025 and the International Open Forum on Data Society as well as two highlights:
- CEATEC Symposium, taking place from October 14 to 17, is Japan’s premier symposium for cutting-edge IT, electronics, and digital technologies. It brings together industry leaders and innovators to present future-oriented solutions for society and business. Christoph Mertens, Head of Adoption at IDSA, brings data spaces to CEATEC’s agenda and participates in an outstanding panel discussion on “The Challenge of Building an AI and Data Space Society”.

- The 3rd Data Spaces Discovery Day Tokyo will happen on October 17. With the Data Spaces Discovery Day, the week will finish with its hottest highlight, building on the success of the first two editions in 2023 and 2024. IDSA’s CEO Lars Nagel, IDSA board member Akira Sakaino from NTT DATA and Christoph Mertens will present the latest achievements and report on new data spaces sussess stories.

This combination of all events during Data Spaces Week will feature the collaboration between the AODP, representing the Asian data community, and IDSA, representing the global data space community. Additionally, the IOFDS will bring together Asian organizations outside Japan, offering a unique opportunity for deepening the collaboration between Asia and Europe in the area of data sharing.
