IDSA Knowledge Base connects the foundational IDSA documents in one place

Oct 16, 2026 | News

IDSA has released version 2026-3 of the IDSA Knowledge Base. The Knowledge Base is the central entry point to the approved work of the IDSA Working Groups. It brings the foundational IDSA documents together and shows how they build on each other.

The Manifesto of International Data Spaces describes the vision and guiding idea behind international data spaces. The IDSA Rulebook sets out the principles and functional requirements for trustworthy and interoperable data spaces. The IDS Reference Architecture Model (IDS-RAM) translates these principles into design patterns and practical guidance for building and operating data spaces. The Glossary provides agreed definitions of the terms used across all documents. The Knowledge Base also lists the standards and technical specifications that underpin the IDSA groundwork, including the Dataspace Protocol (DSP) and the Decentralized Claims Protocol (DCP).

Readers who are new to the topic can start with the introduction to what a data space is and follow the documents from the vision to the technical specifications.

Release 2026-3 includes the Manifesto of International Data Spaces, the IDSA Rulebook 2026-3, the IDS-RAM 2026-3 and the Glossary 2026-1 Release Candidate. The IDSA Rulebook now contains an annex on international perspectives on data spaces, starting with the European perspective. The IDS-RAM adds the architectural principles, a focus paper on value-adding services in decentralized data spaces and updated architectural patterns for the Data Space Governance Authority (DSGA) and catalogs.

IDSA documents follow a quarterly release cycle based on the approval of the Working Groups. The Knowledge Base always shows the latest release, and earlier releases remain available in the IDSA GitHub repository.

Contributions to the Working Group deliverables are open to IDSA members. All data space experts can propose change requests via GitHub issues or the IDSA user group portal.

The IDSA Knowledge Base is available at kb.internationaldataspaces.org.
