Three Years of Experience Developing the Green Deal Data Space | Innovative Governance and Digital Tools for the GDDS
Environmental, geospatial and climate-related data are central to better understand issues and trends on how our planet and its climate are changing and to address the role humans play in these changes. The increasingly pivotal role of data in Europe’s green transformation has led to the development of the Green Deal Data Space (GDDS), as one of the common European Data Spaces.
Over three years, four European Horizon Europe projects—AD4GD, FAIRiCUBE, USAGE, and B-Cubed—have been deploying digital technologies to implement the data spaces strategy in the environmental, biodiversity and climate domains, thus supporting the development of the GDDS.
At their event “Three Years of Experience Developing the Green Deal Data Space”, the four projects bring together researchers, policymakers, and technical experts to:
- Demonstrate innovative tools for data interoperability and governance;
- Share lessons learnt across project implementations;
- Launch a joint Policy Brief to inform future developments of the Green Deal Data Space in Europe.
The agenda features hands-on demos, expert panels, and high-level presentations from leaders in the Green Deal Data Space implementation.
IDSA’s Head of Adoption, Christoph Mertens, will be on stage as a proven data space expert. He will explain the progress data spaces have made with their enormous development dynamics. He will also focus on the importance of interoperability and clearly defined policies when it comes to setting up a data space, operating it successfully and, above all, coordinating it with other data spaces.
